Law's 1st Picnic

We had a great Memorial Day weekend. We spent most of the weekend outside planting annuals, plants in the garden, and catching up on yard work, but we did take a break to spend some time with family. On Sunday we met Travis, Rachel, and their son Gaige at the park for a picnic. It was Lawrence's first picnic and also his first time on the swings.

We had a blast and so did Izzy. We took her with us and let her off the leash. She was such a good girl for her first time at a park off the leash! She never went too far from us and listened to our commands.

Lawrence and Gaige got to play on ALL the park equipment thanks to their Daddy's. I can't wait to have another picnic! Lawrence napped at the end of our park adventure. He was so tuckered out from all the excitement. Below are some pics of our GREAT day!!!

Slow Posting

Not going to be posting much this week. I'll try to get a freebie list up, but the little man is starting to teethe and is extremely fussy/uncomfortable.

Super Easy Rice Pudding

Creamy Rice Pudding

Prep Time: 25 Minutes
Cook Time: 20 Minutes
Ready In: 45 Minutes
Servings: 4

Ingredients:
3/4 cup uncooked white rice
2 cups milk, divided
1/3 cup white sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 egg, beaten
2/3 cup golden raisins (optional)
1 tablespoon butter
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions:
1.In a medium saucepan, bring 1 1/2 cups water to a boil. Add rice and stir. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 20 minutes.

2.In another saucepan, combine 1 1/2 cups cooked rice, 1 1/2 cups milk, sugar and salt. Cook over medium heat until thick and creamy, 15 to 20 minutes (time varies, could be more, could be less).

3.Stir in remaining 1/2 cup milk, beaten egg (have at room temp. or add a bit of the rice mixture to it in a bowl and mix, do this so that when you add it it won't become scrambled eggs) and raisins. Cook 2 minutes more, stirring constantly.

4.Remove from heat, and stir in butter and vanilla. Top with a sprinkle of cinnamon and nutmeg.

Serve warm or chilled.

Wal-Mart couponing

You may want to bring along Walmart's corporate coupon policy in case you have any issues. In their policy it states they DO accept Internet Coupons. If a cashier tells you otherwise you can just show them their coupon policy!! Also, don't be scared to go over 40 coups limit. A customer service manager will just override the machine, no problem... Remember YOU are the consumer, you're paying them!!! If you don't get the service you deserve you don't have to complete your transaction.

How-to-use coupons

Buying multiples of one item...
when the coupon reads,

"One coupon per purchase": This means that shoppers can use one coupon per item, with the item considered to be the purchase. For example, if a shopper had 10 identical jars of BBQ sauce and 10 grocery coupons for thatBBQ sauce, she could use all 10 coupons for her order, which is literally 10 purchases of BBQ sauce.

"One coupon per order": This means that the shopper can only use the specific coupon one time per order. If a shopper had more than one coupon for something, they could use one coupon per store visit, which would be one coupon per order.


"One coupon per household": This is the most restrictive coupon term. Some coupons are so generous that stores will limit their liability by making sure the shopper doesn't make multiple trips to the store to use several coupons.

The most common coupon restriction is "one coupon per purchase," and when store personnel interpret this term as "one coupon per order" it can create frustration for coupon users. Therefore, familiarize yourself with these three restrictions so that you can calmly and politely explain what they each mean. Then you will easily be able to use multiple coupons when buying multiple identical items to save the most on your coupon purchases.

The garden is up and the plants are growing

*The garden is up. We planted three rows of corn, 1/2 row of peas, a row of green beans, radishes, & spinach. Yet to plant is tomatos, green peppers, jalapeno peppers, & banana peppers.*

My Wal-Mart Deals

Okay, so I spent $19.74 on all of this stuff at Wal-Mart, once I get my $2.97 mail-in-rebate back for the Windex All-Purpose Cleaner. If you count the cleaner in my total OOP, I spent $22.54. Not too bad. I saved a total of $74 with coupons. After Wal-Mart I also went to Meijer and saved about $45 with coupons, but sorry no pics (put it all away too quickly).

KFC not taking the FREE meal coups...

KFC has decided not to accept their internet coupons. With all the complaints and problems people were having, someone decided to place a PDF coupon on the Oprah website all with the same barcode. It was later pulled down, but not before copies spread across the internet. But KFC will be offering a Rain Check to everyone. You can see details from the KFC President HERE. I’m wondering if they will give four rainchecks to everyone (because we could print the coupon four times), or if they are just going to give one. It’s hard to tell by the wording. You have to go to your KFC and request the rain check forms, complete them, and mail your original coup. with it. THIS STINKS!!!!! KFC is going to lose a lot of business over this!!
They are also offering $10 gift cards to the first 200 people to register HERE through the 10th. 200?? Sounds like those will be gone in a matter of seconds.

Propane Tank Rebate

Why not save some money this summer when you're grilling. We use Blue Rhino propane tanks and if you do too you can use this mail-in rebate form to get $3 back when you exchange an empty propane tank in return for a Blue Rhino tank. It’s about $20 for the exchange at Lowe's, I think.

My perfect baby

*This is how I feel now!*Last week Lawrence started sleeping through the night in his crib! Last night was night FIVE of sleeping from 8p-5a without waking up once!! We don't know what we've done, but it worked!! haha! He is also going down for 2 naps during the day without fighting it too aggressively. We really don't know what to do with ourselves. We haven't had alone time with each other or by ourselves without worrying when he was going to wake up in over four months. This is a very welcomed break for us. The other night when he went down we both looked at each other and started naming off tons of things we could get done, but then decided to go to bed at 9p. Haha!
